Portugal
Portugal has 4 operating data centers in our registry, and we estimate 105 MW of data center capacity in the country. About 47 MW of that is colocation and hyperscale capacity we track directly. Most of the rest is modelled enterprise capacity on sites the registry does not hold.

Portugal is an emerging data center market whose profile is defined by Sines, where subsea cables including EllaLink to South America land alongside strong renewable resources. The flagship Start Campus in the Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone is planned to reach 1.2 GW, powered by renewables and pre-connected to the grid.

The National Data Center Strategy approved in April 2026 makes the investment agency AICEP a single point of contact, caps permitting times and proposes pre-connected priority zones. Data centers are already recognized as Projects of National Interest, giving them priority in grid connection queues.
