Finland
Finland has 25 operating data centers in our registry, and we estimate 431 MW of data center capacity in the country. About 400 MW of that is colocation and hyperscale capacity we track directly.

Finland is one of the Nordic markets attracting large-scale data center investment, drawn by a clean and stable power supply, a cool climate and district heating networks that can use recovered heat. The transmission operator Fingrid plans for a major increase in industrial and data center demand, up to 100 TWh by 2035 – more than the country consumes today – while its connection queue has grown to around 50 GW.

Policy favors “high value adding” data centers – those bringing jobs, tax revenue and innovation, with heat recovery, load flexibility and high efficiency – which can benefit from electricity tax relief and streamlined permitting. Fingrid requires a valid zoning plan and building permit before a connection agreement is signed and has published technical requirements for large loads, and a reform of the Electricity Market Act is underway.
